Summer Day Camp 2017

 

The CEC summer day camp is a community collaboratively designed summer

academic and enrichment program.  Participants were students Kindergarten

through 6th grade. The morning program emphasized character

and academic education. Formal academic instruction strengthened students’

academic skills through a variety of strategies including, but not limited to,

whole group, partner and individual reading and hands-on activities.  All

students participated in academic instruction.

 

Student enrichment programs included Robotics, Capioeira, Yoga, Drumming,

Tap Dance, Sports( Indoor and Outdoor), Art and Crafts, Dance, Choir,

Gardening, Chess and STEAM based educational activities.

Summer participants also went on field trips to Skateland,

Impression 5 Museum, and Applewood Estate.  

The academic assessment tool used is called Moby Max. This is a web-based program allows students to complete assessments electronically. Participants read individually and in small groups throughout the six weeks of programming.
